This week’s complaint: “The kids of today!”

Yoga answer: change your perspective.

Inversions are yoga’s fountain-of-youth. There are physical benefits: the organs are energized working in a different orientation to gravity, fresh blood flows to the brain, and building up to inversions builds strength in the shoulders, arms and core. More important, however, are the potential psychological benefits. Inversions are literally a change of perspective. As we get older, it’s not just the body that gets stiff. Our attitudes, prejudices and opinions ossify. Are we really so sure we’re right? And does it matter? Taking a different perspective, practicing a little acceptance and detachment are always valuable exercises.
